Rennes-le-Château and Rennes-les-Bains

MEET - Leslie Cottle

Leslie is a lady with real "star quality" as my photo shows!

Leslie is a well-known actress and now film-maker in her native Montreal, Canada, and we have been Facebook friends for many years.  Imagine my delight and interest to hear that she was coming to France and would come and see me.  Some friends had called around for a drink in my house at Couiza and what a flurry of excitement ran round when we heard people at the door.  "She's here, she's here!"

Leslie was there with her escort Trebha, acting taxi-driver for the day, and we found her the most natural person in the world, with no "side" about her at all, so much so that we all felt that we had known her for years.  She gave us all big hugs!  This famous lady, she was "one of us" from the moment she arrived.

Leslie and myself had first became Facebook friends because of our mutual interest in Rennes-le-Château about two years ago but Leslie has been in love with France ever since her first visit to Paris.  She was particularly fascinated by Marie Antoinette, the woman who was executed because she was the wife of the King judged a traitor to his own country and therefore guillotined after the Revolution in 1793.  And she loved my "museum" in the house, mostly Roman and Visigothic finds.

Way back in her teens, Leslie felt an immediate connection to France and all things French.  But when she later came to Carcassonne her experiences were incredible and really rather wonderful.  But don't let me tell you this, let her, as she does it in her own unique style in the films listed below.

Leslie feels a special attraction for the Carcassonne, Rennes-le-Château and Montségur and is talking about coming here more frequently in the future.  I do hope so!

Then we all went for a walk by the River Aude, which is only a fifty yards from my house.  I often walk beside it if I need to feel calm and relaxed.  That evening, with the incredible yellow light from the soon-to-set sun, gave us some wonderful photographs.
