Love the Corbières!
I am blown away by the beautiful and interesting villages in the Corbières mountains, that is, the large space on the map between Rennes-le-Château and the Mediterranean Sea. I have written so much about them, so if you would like to see them here, then click on the names (not pictures) for links.

By the time you are reading this I will be moved, I hope, from Canet to Couiza, but I lived at Canet for several years and my historical studies gave me great insight into our region that helped immensely in writing my books. As they became more popular, it was obvious that I must move to Couiza, but readers here might enjoy the story of the wicked Archbishop Guifred who lived in the château at Canet in 1059; the same year that he consecrated the church at Rennes-le-Château!

I became interested in Fabrezan when a friend moved there and found it delightful - especially when I discovered a White Lady chapel!
Mouthoumet (pronounced Moo-Too-May) is about half way along the old Roman route from Couiza to Narbonne. Not much connection with Rennes-le-Château there, you might think. The church is dedicated to Saints Julien et Basilisse.

Every town has its secrets!
Often known to Rennes-le-Château people as "Perillos" this village burst into fame among the "Rennies" when the French André Douzet claimed to have found proof that the massive castle there was built to hide the tomb of Jesus!

Beside a Roman road, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea
Named after the saint who loved goats, for cabrerisse is an old Occitan word meaning goats. I discovered a spring and a most unusual Mary Magdalene picture.
Unknown history of Rennes-le-Château Country
Tuchan is on the old Roman mining route from Rennes-le-Château country, past Bugarach and Padern towards the cost. Something mysterious about it, especially as regards the links with the Cathars of Ariège.
